Faculty of Arts
The research centers of the Faculty of Arts are a key component to promote interdisciplinary researches. As such a center, we link 14 subject areas under transcultural questions.
Under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts, we foster close links to other research centers and consortia.
The TRA Present Pasts
The center is part of Transdisciplinary Research Area "Past Worlds and Modern Questions. Cultures Across Time and Space", TRA Present Pasts for short, which is promoted by the Excellence Initiative.
Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS)
The Cluster of Excellence "Beyond Slavery and Freedom: Asymmetrical Dependencies in Pre-Modern Societies", embedded in the Bonn Center for Dependency and Slavery Studies (BCDSS), is one of our close cooperation and exchange partners. With its research, the BCDSS aims to overcome the binary opposition of "slavery versus freedom". It proposes "asymmetric dependency" as a new key concept including all forms of bondage across time and space.
